Sales Tax Accountant / Senior Sales Tax Accountant

Ensure timeliness and accuracy of indirect tax returns for State & Local jurisdictions within the domestic United States through preparation of returns, payment requests, and supporting analytic reports and reconciliations. Obtain and maintain State & Local indirect tax account registrations and ensure point-of-sale and ERP systems are programmed to calculate tax at the appropriate rates.

This role is responsible for:

• Obtaining and maintaining State & Local indirect tax accounts & permits for 475+ restaurants nationwide
• Researching and identifying proper tax rates for point-of-sale and ERP systems and ensuring rates are programmed and updated in a timely manner
• Preparing and filing all monthly sales and use tax returns and related payment requests
• Preparing monthly sales and use tax analytic reports
• Computing and recording monthly use tax obligations for purchases from select national vendors
• Reconciling sales, use, and liquor tax GL accounts each quarter
• Preparing reclass journal entries
• Administering tax exemption certificate management program
• Maintaining sales tax files and databases for current year return filings and payments
• Continuously improving systems, developing internal processes, and maintaining applicable software
• Assisting with compilation of sales/use tax audit documentation
• Assisting with research and review of sales/use tax audit schedules
• Assisting with other special projects as needed

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required


Sales Tax Accountant Level:
At this level, a minimum of 1 year of accounting experience that has given the incumbent the knowledge, skills and abilities to be successful in the role is required. Corporate sales tax experience is preferred.
Senior Sales Tax Accountant Level:
At this level, a minimum of 4 years of accounting experience is required with at least 2 years in sales and use tax. Corporate sales tax experience is preferred.

Computer Skills: Advanced Excel experience required, proficient with Outlook and Word. Experience with Dynamics AX, CorpSales, Hyperion, and Cadency is a plus but not required.
